2nd Hero ku

I am lack of idea lately. Don't know where to start the story because I have no story lah. Ahaks. Just the story about my 2nd hero Mikhail. His getting bigger but until today I don't know his weight progress. Of course dah naik but how much increase? eager to know. Sabar and waiting for the appointment with the pead on next week.

After almost sebulan lebih Mikhail dah boleh senyum-senyum bila diagah. Cepat jer his eyes melilau cari who ever datang dekat to him. And one thing I realize Mikhail macam takut with his big bro bila Iqbal jerit-jerit dekat dia. Mikhail akan terus nangis ler. Cian anak mama sorang nih. Kecik-kecik dah kena buli yer.

Layan ler gambar latest Mikhail with his new Rainforest bouncer

Ni pun cerita basi kejadian hari Khamis 24hb july 08.

Dari semalam mama dah janji dengan Iqbal nak bawak dia gi main football kat taman. Yer la nenek dia baru ja balik Selasa lepas. So kurang ler teman bermain dia.

Rehat sebentar sambil menikmati warkers chips nya. Kami jalan2 sampai ke animal farm. Ada horses, cow & donkey kali ini. Sempat ambil gambar untuk tatapan orang kampung. Hehehe. Then, terus balik sebab adik dah mula meragam sebab dah sejuk kat luar nih. LAyan ler gambar2 kat sana tuh.

Selamat Jalan Nenek

Iqbal kata dia nak ikut naik aeroplane tapi dia tak nak balik Malaysia. Apa la Iqbal nih.

Selesai nenek checked in tibalah saat perpisahan (I don't like it) sedih tengok nenek dah nak balik. Rasa macam sekejap sahaja kami bersama nenek. Nenek pun pasti sedih tinggalkan kami kan terutama cucu kesayangannya. Nenek siap pesan Iqbal selalu call nenek nanti.

Sekarang Iqbal jadi good fren atuk pulak. but ngan mak tak boleh nak fren lagi.

Iqbal kata kami pegi lawat baby 'yiz' sleep.

Day 1:

HAri Rabu tuh sampai dalam kul 12 tghari. Lepas lunch (Bekal nasi goreng yang mak sediakan) kami bertolak ke Malaysia Hi Comm. Kami ke sana menaiki tube. Actually kami guna tiket one day pass (any train & bus). Sepatutnya dekat jer nak ke Hi Comm from the station tapi kami tak tahu jalan memang ler sesat jadinya. puas keliling park jugak dibuatnya. dengan mendukung Mikhail. Ala-ala penat buat field work lah. At last sampai la kami di Imigresen Malaysia. Tapi malang nya kami sampai dah petang. So, today we just get the application form. Have to come back again tomorrow.

Sempat la bergambar walau pun kaki nih dah penat melangkah. Singgah rehat sebentar di taman berdekatan. Selepas tuh kami teruskan perjalanan ke Trafargar Square. Ada konsert plak. so kami terus kan perjalanan ke Horse Guard. Ambik gambar ngan askar berkuda tuh. Then jalan lagi ke Big Ben. Sampai sini suma orang dah pancit. Iqbal pun dah mula buat perangai sebab dia kelaparan. Sempat bergambar sekejap then shopping biskut dan kek buah kat TESCO untuk Iqbal, lepas tuh kami ambil bas balik semula ke rumah sewaan.

Day 2:

Awal pagi lepas sarapan pagi mama & papa isi borang. Ingat kan dapat bertolak awal, tapi bila deal ngan anak-anak jadi kami bertolak dah pukul 9.30 pg. Sampai Hi Comm dalam kul 10 lebih. Siap urusan penghantaran borang dalam kul 12 lebih. So sempat la kami jalan2 sementara nak tunggu untuk collection kul 3 ptg nanti.

Day 3:

Check out rumah sewa dalam pukul 10 pagi. First destination Fulham. Chelsea & Arsenal. Papa macam biasa bought the official merchandise from all the FC.

Hari Selasa lepas, papa ajak semua jalan-jalan tengok town Manchester. Ye la sejak mak abah datang belum sempat bawak diorang ke mana-mana sebab papa tengah sibuk siapkan researh projectnya. So, petang tuh our first destination ke Manchester Ford. Hehe sebenar nya dekat sangat tempat nih ngan flat kami. Sekangkang kera jer. Cuma tak sempat nak bawak diorang jalan-jalan lagi.

Sampai jer sini kami masuk satu kedai ke kedai lain. Mak abah dan nenek tengok2 barang. At last kami ke TK Max. Mama ternampak hand bag. Mama tunjukkan nenek dan mak. Suka dorang. Mama ngan papa ke Boots untuk beli harness Iqbal. memang we really need this thing. This budak macam tak cukup tanah bila dapat lepas. Semua tempat dia nak explore. Hey anak mama nih. After all we choose the safety reins harness from Tommee Tippee. Price around 11.99 pound. Demi untuk keselamatan Iqbal papa beli jugak.

Kat TK Max tengok nenek ngan mak masing2 tengah pegang handbag sorang satu. Mama pun apa lagi join sekali pilih. Lepas tu we went to Old Trafford Stadium. Actually the Megastore dah tutup pun by the time we arrived there. Kami cuma bergambar kat depan stadium jer. Then, kami ke The Lowry Mall. Tak masuk mall pun sebab nak lepak kat the quay jer. Papa just ambik gambar mak abah nenek dan Iqbal jer.

Sekian.. esok mama sambung cerita jalan-jalan London yer......

Ye ye mak abah dah sampai ;)

Today weather memang sangat cantik. So, dalam pukul 10.30am kami baru bertolak ke Chelford Car Boot Sale (CBS). Biasala bila bangun pagi nak kena siap kan anak2 sebelum ready untuk keluar. Sampai ke CBS mama memang sangat teruja sebab memang first time tengok besar nya area CBS tuh, siap ramai pulak orang hari ini. Memang meriah. tapi kami sebenarnya agak terlewat hari ini. Mama ngan nenek jer yang shopping CBS. Papa jadi baby sitter hari ni. Iqbal ngan Mikhail dalam car. Plan asal mama want to buy bicycle Iqbal, pramsuit /snowsuit for Mikhail dan untuk mama jacket atau tableware.

Tapi at last apa yang mama dapat baju Mikhail and toys dan buku untuk Iqbal dan Mikhail. Barang mama tak der la. Tak sempat nak tengok betul2. Sekejap jer kat CBS tak habis pusing pun, terus mama ajak nenek ke car sebab risau Mikhail nangis. Sampai car baik jer Mikhail tengah sleep. Then, our next destination is Manchester Airport. Sampai jer tengok Flight from Dubai dah arrived and tengah baggage reclaiming.

Kami pun makan beramai-ramai. Bole masak asam pedas nih.

Online Shopping....

Ini la parcel yang diterima tuh

Have anyone of you shopping online?

I haven't done it before. Bukan apa lagi puas hati kalau dpt tengok sendiri barang yang dihajati. Memenuhi citarasa ker tak kan.

But during confinement period nih, pergerakan agak terbatas. (Actually hari tuh baru jer gi Colne shopping dah, but terbatas sebab shopping ngan baby la). And as a woman shopping is one of the therapy so I decided to shop online. (therapy abiskan duit. hehehe)

Apa yang saya beli? Jawapannya baju lagi. Seriously I really love to buy tops rather than pants. Sebab nya size does matter la. (byk sgt "kelebihannya" ;)

So last week I bought 4 tops from Warehouse. And I received the parcel on Monday. Sangat suka ok. And sekarang tak sabar nak wearing those tops. Actually, Warehouse on sale and dah lama tengok baru skg harga top yang dihajati turun lg. Hoooray...

Online Shopping Tips: (For me to remember)

* How are you paying for the item?
* What do you know about the seller?
* How secure is your transaction?
* What are you buying?
* What are the legal terms of your purchase?
* When can I expect delivery of the item?
* How should you keep records about your purchase?
* To whom can you complain if you're not satisfied with the item

My Lovely Heroes

Just to share the pictures of my heroes in this entry. (Actually I just know how to edit the photo using picnik). Very nice result. Am really like it. This are my heroes. Dedicated to papa, Iqbal and Mikhail. (yesterday papa asked me why just a few of his photos in this blog?) Heheh. Kesian la plak. But papa eventho your photos not in here, but that does not mean mama ignore you ok. I keep you in my heart.

Iqbal and his bro Mikhail look like the same kan. I realized this after Mikhail shows his real appearance. Before this he is too small to compare both of them. Yang best nya both of my heroes ada lesung pipit la. Iqbal his on left cheek but senget sikit la. Mikhail plak on both of his cheek and at the perfect location. :) So cute kan.

Iqbal lately ni little bit naughty la. Suka sangat buat benda yang sebab kan mama and papa marah kan dia. Is it because he need more attention from us? Or Is it because he jealous with his bro. Hmm I don't think he jealous with his bro la because he really love Mikhail. Everyday he will kiss and hug his adik tau. And dia tak penah kasar-kasar pun dengan Mikhail. Suka sangat tengok both of them bermesra. Semoga berkekalan sampai ke tua. Amin.

Mama still waiting for my parcel. From who? ;)

Petronas! Dare to read?

Got this email a few weeks ago, just to share to whom who dare to read (sebab panjang sangat). As a Petronasian I would said I have to share this information with the others. Happy reading :)

________________________________________________________________

After reading all the chain mails and blogs, I feel called to reply, because of the relentless attacks and allegations -- most of which are inaccurate or baseless -- against PETRONAS.

PETRONAS' STAFF SALARY & BONUS

1) The salaries paid to PETRONAS' employees are not as high as people think. At best, they are just industry average. And these are not attractive enough for some who left PETRONAS to find work at other companies ( mai nly from the Middle East ) which are willing to pay more. Why do they pay more? The oil and gas industry worldwide has been facing acute shortage of qualified or experienced personnel, so most companies are willing to pay lots of money to entice and pinch staff from their competitors.

Bonus? There has NEVER been a bonus amounting to 6 months or 12 months throughout the 33 years. On average, it is 2 months. But don't ever think we don't deserve it. We more than deserve it. A lot of us work really hard, some in the most extreme of conditions. Those who have been to and worked in northern Sudan , for example, would testify that it's like working in a huge blower oven. Southern Sudan , on the other hand, is almost all swamps and mud. Imagine having to go through that kind of heat, or waddling in muddy swamps, day in and day out.

QUALITY OF CRUDE & REFINED PRODUCTS

2) Malaysia produces about 600,000 barrels of crude oil per day (and about 100,000 barrels condensate). Of this crude volume, 339,000 barrels are refined locally for local consumption. The rest is exported (and yes, because it has lower sulphur content it fetches higher prices).

Malaysia also imports about 230,000 barrels of crude oil per day, mai nly from the Middle East , to be refined here. This crude oil contains higher sulphur and is less expensive (so the country gains more by exporting our crudes). In Malaysia , this crude is processed by PETRONAS at its second refinery in Melaka, and also by Shell at its Port Dickson refinery.

Different refineries are built and configurated to refine different types of crude. And each crude type yields different percentage of products (diesel, gasoline, kerosene, cooking gas etc) per barrel.

But most importantly, products that come out at the end of the refining process have the same good quality regardless of the crude types. That's why PETRONAS, Shell and Exxon Mobil share the same pipeline to transport the finished products from their refineries to a distribution centre in the Klang Valley . The three companies collect the products at this centre accordingly to be distributed to their respective distribution networks. What makes PETRONAS' petrol different from Shell's, for example, is the additive that each company adds.

PETRONAS' ROLE, FUNCTION & CONTRIBUTION

3) A lot of people also do not understand the role and function of PETRONAS, which is essentially a company, a business entity, which operates on a commercial manner, to mai nly generate income and value for its shareholder. In this case, PETRONAS' shareholder is the Government.

In 1974, when PETRONAS was set up, the Government gave PETRONAS RM10 million (peanuts, right?) as seed capital. From 1974 to 2007, PETRONAS made RM570 billion in accumulated profits, and returned to the Government a total of RM335.7 billion. That is about 65% of the profits. That means for every RM1 that PETRONAS makes, 65 sen goes back to the Government.

Last year, PETRONAS made a pre-tax profit of RM86.8 billion. The amount given back to the Government (in royalty, dividends, corporate income tax, petroleum products income tax and export duty) was RM52.3 billion. The rest of the profit was used to pay off minority interests and taxes in foreign countries (about RM7.8 billion - PETRONAS now operates in more than 30 countries), and the re mai ning RM26.7 billion was reinvested. The amount reinvested seems a lot, but the oil and gas industry is technology- and capital-intensive. Costs have gone up exponentially in the last couple of years. Previously, to drill a well, it cost about US$3 million; now it costs US$7 million. The use of rigs was US$200,000 a day a couple of years ago; now it costs US$600,000 a day.

A lot of people also do not realise that the amount returned by PETRONAS to the Government makes up 35% of the Government's total annual income, to be used by the Government for expenditures, development, operations, and yes, for the various subsidies. That means for every RM1 the Government makes, 35 sen is contributed by PETRONAS.

So, instead of asking what happens to PETRIONAS' money or profits, people should be questioning how the money paid by PETRONAS to the Government is allocated.

CRUDE EXPORTS & FUEL PRICES

4) A lot of people also ask, why Malaysia exports its crude oil. Shouldn't we just stop exporting and sell at cheaper prices to local refiners? If Malaysia is an oil exporting country, why can't we sell petrol or diesel at cheaper prices like other oil producing countries in the Middle East ?

I guess I don't have to answer the first couple of questions. It's simple economics, and crude oil is a global commodity.

Why can't we sell petrol and diesel at lower prices like in the Middle East ? Well, comparing Saudi Arabia and other big producers to Malaysia is like comparing kurma to durian, because these Middle Eastern countries have much, much, much bigger oil and gas reserves.

Malaysia has only 5.4 billion barrels of oil reserves, and about 89 trillion cubic feet of gas. Compare that to Saudi Arabia 's 260 billion barrels of oil and 240 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Malaysia only produces 600,000 barrels per day of oil. Saudi Arabia produces 9 million barrels per day. At this rate, Saudi Arabia 's crude oil sales revenue could amount to US$1.2 billion per day! At this rate, it can practically afford almost everything -- free education, healthcare, etc, and subsidies -- for its people.

But if we look at these countries closely, they have in the past few years started to come up with policies and strategies designed to prolong their reserves and diversify their income bases. In this sense, Malaysia (and PETRONAS) has had a good head start, as we have been doing this a long time.

Fuel prices in Malaysia is controlled by the Government based on a formula under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism introduced more than a couple of decades ago. It is under this mechanism that the complex calculation of prices is made, based on the actual cost of petrol or diesel, the operating costs, margin for dealers, margin for retail oil companies (including PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd) and the balancing number of duty or subsidy. No retail oil companies or dealers actually make money from the hike of the fuel prices. Oil companies pay for the products at market prices, but have to sell low, so the Government reimburses the difference -- thus subsidy.

Subsidy as a concept is OK as long as it benefits the really deserving segment of the population. But there has to be a limit to how much and how long the Government should bear and sustain subsidy. An environment where prices are kept artificially low indefinitely will not do anyone any good. That's why countries like Indonesia are more pro-active in removing subsidies. Even Vietnam (which is a socialist country, by the way) is selling fuel at market prices.

PETRONAS & TRANSPARENCY

5) I feel I also need to say something on the allegation that PETRONAS is not transparent in terms of its accounts, business transactions etc.

PETRONAS is first and foremost a company, operating under the rules and regulations of the authorities including the Registrar of Companies, and the Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia for its listed four subsidiaries (PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd, PETRONAS Gas Bhd, MISC Bhd and KLCC Property Holdings Bhd.

PETRONAS the holding company produces annual reports which are made to whomever wants them, and are distributed to many parties and places; including to the library at the Parliament House for perusal and reading pleasure of all Yang Berhormat MPs (if they care to read). PETRONAS also makes the annual report available on its website, for those who bother to look. The accounts are duly audited.

The website also contains a lot of useful information, if people really care to find out. Although PETRONAS is not listed on Bursa Malaysia , for all intents and purposes, it could be considered a listed entity as its bonds and financial papers are traded overseas. This requires scrutiny from investors, and from rating agencies such as Standard & Poor and Moody's.

BOYCOTT PETRONAS?

6) The last time I checked, this is still a democratic country, where people are free to spend their money wherever they like.

For those who like to see more of the money that they spend go back to the local economy and benefiting their fellow Malaysians, perhaps they should consider sticking to local products or companies.

For those who like to see that the money they spend go back to foreign shareholders of the foreign companies overseas, they should continue buying foreign products.

FINAL WORD (FOR TODAY)

I'm sorry this is rather long, but I just have to convey it. I hope this would help some of you out there understand something. The oil and gas industry, apart from being very capital intensive, is also very complex and volatile. I'm learning new things almost every single day.

Appreciate if you could help to forward this response to as many contacts as possible to counter the subversive proposal out there.

Thank you.

Bila Hati Berbunga Riang....

Tajuk tak der kena mengena ngan entry. Hehhe

Yesterday Mikhail turn 24 days (masih merah lagi). Midwife came to visit us for the last time just to check out adik before she discharged us. She said adik was very well in gaining his weight. Alhamdulillah and she gave credit to mama as well (lagi la mama senyum melerek). Mikhail weight at day 24 was 2.91kg. Bagus kan. Gill McCartney (midwife) also help us arrange appointment for Adik registration on next Wednesday. Settle one thing. During Gill visit papa asked her can we bring adik for outing. She said sure because adik is more than 2 kilos, but she advice to ware cardigan to warm adik. Gill ni mmg baik sangat siap bagi 1 tiny knitted cardigan utk adik. She so helpful. pastu soft spoken plak. I am gonna miss her hospitality.

Ni la Gill bergambar dengan mama and adik. Muka mama kena tutup ngan bunga sebab tak pakai tudung time tuh.

Adik tengah swimming kata Iqbal. Heheh suka nya Mikhail tuh, tapi nangis juga bila mula2 kena air. Nasib ada nenek ble mandikan Mikhail, kalau harap mama asyik dry cleaning jer la jawapnya. Hehehe

After Gill balik jer papa suruh we all bersiap. we going out for shopping kat Colne. Hehehe sempat lagi nak shopping walaupun saya masih dalam pantang. Yer la terkenangkan mak pun dah nak balik Malaysia 2 minggu lagi, lagi pulak we going back for good end of September nih, so kami pegi jugak. Adik behave sangat through out the journey but bila sampai jer kat mall tuh mula la dia tak selesa in his stroller. Apa ble buat mama have to go to changing room more than 3 times sbb nak cool down kan adik. Kesian dia kan. Then, ramai plak nanny2 minah salleh yang tegur adik the tiny baby. Lagi la mama tak tahan kesian kan adik (balik rumah terus mama lap muka adik sbb asyik kena cuit dek dorang tuh kan).

We in front of Boundary Mill Stores, Colne. Before start shopping.

Barang2 shopping tak der banyak pun sbb tak sempat nak shopping betoi2 dah ada anak kecik nih cam tuh la. Mama just grab apa yg patut jer for me I just bought 1 liz claiborne handbag (Chit, sini baru aku jumpa handbag liz claiborne, tp tak tau design apa ko suka plak), 1 liz claiborne tie rack, 1 pair clarks shoes. tu jer. lain for my brothers and sister. Papa and nenek ada shopping their stuff jugak. Iqbal papa bought Timberland shoes only 9 pound. ok la kan. Papa plak he is really interested dengan tableware lately nih. So, nampak jer Noritake ada discount he bought 1 set of 6 pinggan mangkuk nih. Nak tahu sapa yang paling suka, of course mama la. heheh. :)

Kat sini we met penduduk Bukit Cheetham jugak Kak Lin & family and Haji Farid. Lepas shopping terus la balik rumah.

Papa went to Glasgow early morning hari nih ada urusan rasmi. Nak tahu nanti tanya papa la.....
